Default Replaced BMC Now brakes are stiff...

Okai.. so Today I got around to replacing my Brake Master Cylinder on my 92 Si hatch...
I replaced my 13/16? with a 15/16 from a 91 civic EX 4door.

So.... When I press the brakes there is a little play before the car will slow down...
after the play it is just stiff as well...
It seems to get worse the longer I drive.... I havnt drove for more then 30 mins with the new BMC...
My idle is also kinda off and low..(possibly from below symptom)
But Im going to take off the vacuum line tomorrow and plug it to see if that straightens it out..

Also.. to top it all off....
My car sat for a week..... I replace the BMC, before I even drive the car I wash it... then I drive to pick up my girl from work...
And I get a code.... car ran like ****... couldnt hit vtec.. turned out to be a code 8.. TDC sensor..
Now I know this sensor is in the dizzy but what would cause this????
There is no OBD conversions..
Could it just be from being an old dizzy?

I didnt even think to bleed the rears.. which I will do tomorrow

I also bench bled the BMC there was some TINY bubbles though...
before all of this happened my break fluid was almost black... and now come to think about it when I bled my breaks it shot out the same old color.. I topped off with new fluid.. I'll try a few things tomorrow any more ideas would help

Also If anyone has any info on why all of a sudden Im getting a code 8...
I know its the dizzy... but.. WHY?
Also.. the CEL only comes on if I hit 4700.
Everysingle time It comes on at the same point..
Im just curious on how long it will run like this...
I am gonna replace it.. But Im trying to hold off till my dad gets back from reno.
Ive been going real easy on her... keeping it under 4k
what are the chances of me just breaking down and being stuck though?
Damn... it really is time to get AAA

uh genius.... if you plug the vacuum line, how the hell are you going to brake? you need the vacuum assist to brake or else your pedal will be rock hard and you wont be able to stop it at all

is your vacuum hose connected to the brake booster?

Yah you wasted time if you only did the front brakes. It's a diagonal split so you have to do all of them at the same time.

Wierd thing with the brakes but I do have some experiance with the TDC sensor being bad. It turned out to be the distrubutor, which sucks cause its not a cheap part. But you should check your wiring too and make sure the wires are good before replacing the distributor.

Yeah... Im the genius right?
I didnt plan on driving like this man.. It was just to see if it cleared the idle problem (which it didnt).

Yes the vacuum was plugged in..

So today I bled all 4 brakes in the correct order and the brakes seem alot better now. But they still feel wierd... but it could just be cuz I was used to mushy brakes...
However I cant really just slam the brakes and lock the tires up...
I havnt really tried it while going fast(duh)
But Iono.. Just seemed like it was better before.

About the TDC sensor..
Kinda wierd but it has been fine all day today..
the code doesnt kick on at 4700... I still have vtec..
Im not really sure whats up with all that..
But I think I have a spare dizzy laying around that I might pop in there when I have some spare time.
Thanks for the info guys

if the system had air in it, the brakes would be mushy, not stiff as a rock. when the system is operating normally, you can verify this by stepping on the brakes twice with the engine off so the reserve vacuum goes away; hella stiff. i'm 100% sure it's a bad vacuum line and/or the brake booster.

and i had that same problem with the CEL 8 (cylinder sensor/ TDC sensor) the the retard engineers at honda made the dizzy and the 2 sensors one assembly, but that will solve your problems provided that everything in your ignition system is sound up to the dizzy. GL with all this.

Finally someone with a good answer....
any tricks to find out which is the culprit?

Oh and about the code 8....
I dont think It could be anything else accept the dizzy... Ive never had to play with the wires...
All of this happened after a drive testing my brakes... then I washed my car then left and boom CEL at 4700... could it SOMEHOW be that the dizzy got wet or something???
Cuz now no cel and it seems okai other then an occasional drastic idle drop...

with the engine off start pumping the pedal and if it starts to get really stiff then ur booster is fine. Try that.

You need to bleed all four lines really well. When I replaced my MC (13/16 to 15/16), I ended up bleeding each wheel like four times. I even bench bled. Gotta make sure all the air is out of the lines.

The larger MC will give a stiffer pedal feel.

Yeah I knew it was gonna feel a little stiffer.. but there just seems to be some play in the pedal...
I know before I replaced the MC I could pump the brakes and it would stiffen up.... but I'll check in the morning..

I did bleed all 4 brakes now and I did them in the correct order maybe I will do it one more time tomorrow if my booster seems okai.

If you have the stock sized front brakes, and not the 10.4'' ones the bigger master cylinder will make the brake pedal stiffer and actually MAKE THE CAR TAKE LONGER TO STOP!!!

You only do the 15/16ths brake master cylinder if you have upgraded the front brake size.

What size front brakes are you running? If it's stock they are the smaller fronts. 1992 Si didn't get the bigger 10.4'' fronts.

Also improper bleeding of brakes will make the pedal soft/mushy and/or lower before the brakes engage, not make the pedal feel too stiff.

Okai.. So now what? I dont have upgraded fronts... its just a stock si Brakes..
And it does feel like it takes longer to stop...
Hmmm.. looks like I will either be upgrading or selling my 15/16's MC...

What do I need to do to get the 10.4's??
