Default Non-vtec 96 LX to vtec conversion...

I've searched for a while about swapping the head on my non-vtec 96 Accord LX to a vtec soch head. I found a lot of civic info but nothing specific to my car. Would I just need a vtec head and a vtec ecu? Also if I'm going to replace the head, would you guys reccommend something different while I'm in there, like a prelude head or an aftermarket one? As of now all I have is a full exhaust and CAI.
Also could someone please clairify that I have a F22B1, correct?
Thanks for your help

If your going to take your time to do a VTEC Head swap there is no use in using the F22B1 for more power. But If you do decide to use the B1 head. I would suggest getting a race port-n-polish done on it. And upgrade to a stage two cam. The B1 doesn't flow all that well stock compared to the other non-VTEC F heads. Your not going to get that all so popular VTEC rush from a stock SOHC B1. The B1 VTEC is more of a fuel saver/highway cruiser that a big power adder.

Just my 2¢

i was thinking about that swap myself and then boosting it, figured that the iron sleeves in the b2 bottom end would be a good match with the b1 head for boosting, isn't it?

Yes the F22 bottom end's are good for boost. If your going to boost I would save your time and not bother with the B1 head swap. Get a port and polish done on the B2 or buy an F22A6 head (they flow the best, at least that's what people say) Then get yourself a nice non VTEC cam a turbo (w/all other necessary equipment) and boost away.

What about a H22 head? Would that even fit my block? Are they better flowing than the F22A6 head? Thanks for all the help guys

dude, SEARCH, yes that can be done as well, and there is also a write up for that. people on here are willing to help, but you can't expect them to do everything for you. there is a frequently asked questions section for a reason, because certain questions get asked a billion times a week.
