Default Ipod connection to Alpine HU questions

Hello all,

I want to connect an Ipod to a cdm-7854 Alpine HU.

If I use this: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-K...M123B

Will I be able to control the play list from the HU?
Will the sound quality be decent?

Is there any other possible set ups i could use? (no FM signal connections)

Last question, if i do get that kcm 123b i will have to pull the already installed Alpine HU from the console. Now i remember when i installed it that it has two clips on one side so that it will not slide back out of place, how would i go about pulling it out from the dash?

Thanks!

No.

It will be OK, an iPod docking port adapter would be better.

Yes. re: last question.

That will depend on the MM&Y of car it is.
If it's a 90 Civic, you may be able to reach up behind and plug the adapter in. 94

I don't think they ever made a dock connector for Alpine models with M-bus.

This may be your only option without getting a new HU.

Ok guys, thanks for the quick responses. It seems like that cable will be the only alternative without getting a new HU and its cheap enough to make it worth a try.

Now unfortunately this is not my civic where i can reach around the back of the console and get to the radio, the car in question is a 98 Contour. Any ideas on how to get the HU out?

Remove the trim bezel and "lift" the locking pins 1/2 way up the "hooks they are in and pull unit out.
If the locking pins will not move the may be binding because there is pressure on them, push in on the unit a little as you lift the pins. 94

The PIE ALP/M-POD... http://www.pie.net/pie_store/s...cific

The Peripheral PXA03... http://peripheralelectronics.c...earch=

There are probably others. 94

Is this the dock connector you are talking about? http://www.pie.net/pie_store/s...bc=no

So the advantage it has over the kcm 123b is better quality and charging?
