Default Need Major Help!!

I am trying to paint my fender and front end but I can't even get base coat down smooth!

I tried 3 times already and I am about to give up :[

I messed around with the psi setting and still no luck.

I am using a 50 gal air compressor.

shooting bc/cc omni ppg.

LMK if you have any suggestions

thanks to iam7head & powerflow

What temp reducer are you using? The atomized paint micro-droplets could be drying to fast, beginning to dry in the air before applied to the panel. Also your conditions may allow the over spray to settle on the surface resulting in a rough feel. Have you tried tacking between coats to removed settled dust? Does it seem like its flashing off too fast?

Did you correctly mix to the recommended ratio?

What gun are you using and what size.? Did you test the spray pattern?

Have you tried different material settings along with the different air pressure? If its a rough, dry, too thin coat texture/feel, could be too much air, gun distance too far, paint too thin, stroke too fast, fluid control not opened up enough.

Or is it an excessive peel from what I maybe mentioned before?

Does the gun sound like its spraying even, no slight spurting? Have you been testing the spray pattern on some masking paper or something? Keep in mind the base / clear will have very minimal peel at best, unless its a flat panel and you can apply on the heavy side. Base does have a slightly more rough feel compared to hardened clear that's flowed out. Have you sprayed Omni in the past or used the same equipment before?

Do you have enough paint to test out different gun control styles? Any junk fenders or something to test out on? Try holding the gun closer, backing off the pressure so its not too high at the cap, bump up the material, be prepared to move a little faster. I paint with a gun distance closer than average, overlap perfect 50-60%, material near or around max range (not all base colors), and I move quicker. But not everyone paints the same.
