Honda Prelude All Model Preludes

Wanting to use h22a distributor on h22a motor+h23a harness.

Default Wanting to use h22a distributor on h22a motor+h23a harness.

There's been a thread about this topic recently, and all the repliers posted "just stick with the h23a distributor and coil".

Well...I'm making this thread with complete understanding that I could use the h23a distributor and coil with ease...but I don't want to do that. I don't want to mess with extending the coil wire and adding a large ground wire...just to mount the coil somewhere other than the head where my VTEC solenoid now resides. Space is lacking as it is, don't need to add something else under the hood. Plus I'm not getting any spark anyways from my h23a distributor and coil...I don't want to waste time and money buying a coil when I have a good h22a distributor sitting here.

What is the plug mod needed to use the jdm h22a internal coil distributor on the jdm h22a+usdm h23a harness? If I'm correct...2 wires need to be crossed for this to work, and for me to just cap off the external coil plug that won't be used anymore. Any info on this is greatly appreciated.

Also...is the spark plug locations on the h22a cap the same as the h23a cap? 1,2,3,4(clockwise starting at top-left) I'm pretty sure is the h23a's cap setup...not sure if it's the same on the h22a cap.

Vehicle = '93 Prelude Si w/ JDM h22a+JDM P13+USDM h23a harness.

im using a jdm h22a motor w/internal coil distributer, and h23 harness

jump the external coil pack harness by connecting the black/yellow wire and yellow wire with a fuse, i think you would be fine with a 20 amp fuse
tape it up, and your done

So The black/yellow wire and the yellow wire on the external coil harness plug need to be crossed...correct? I think that's what you meant.

yea they need to be connected. The blue wire isnt used.

Ummm if you dont want to chop up your harness, stick a fuse in the external coil pack harness to connect the 2 wires, and tape the fuse in there so it wont fall out

One other thing I was wondering...is the plug order on the h22a cap the same as the h23a cap?

the h23 and h22 distributors are the same, the only difference is the location of the coil.

Correct me if Im wrong. But in reading this thread, the only thing that you have to do is cross the yellow/black wire and the yellow wire on the USDM Coil pack, and you can just use a JDM Dizzy like that?

Just got done doing this, no spark...yet I wasn't getting spark with the h23a dizzy and coil either, so the problem lies elsewhere OR I just happen to have two bad coils which would **** me off to no end because those damn things cost 40-60 bucks.

Just wanted to confirm this. All you have to do is stick a fuse(I used a 30 ammp) in the harness that connects to the external coil. You can then install your internal coil dizzy. I just did this on my car, took all of 20 min. Cleans up the engine bay and you dont have to worry about trying to mount the external coil. I did this because I suspected my coil/dizzy was going bad since they have over 208K miles on them. Can runs alot better now.
