Default Little button on left side lower dash... what does it do???

I have always woundered what the little button on the left side of dash (about where your knee would hit) does. I know its not to clear Maint Req light or anything so i have no idea... I was bored yesterday and just wanted to see what happened when i had that car on ACC and held it down. So after like 5 seconds of holding it down the little red security light on my steering colum started to flash fast. I was like ahhhh opps? So my question is... what the hell does that button do? Thanks!

Probably from a previous alarm/ignition kill system or something along the lines of security like that.

Yea most likely its for ur alarm. Just in case the battery dies in ur remote you put ur key in the ignition and hold the button for a certain amount of time to shut off ur alarm

its probably the switch to your alarm since you said the light started blinking.. its probably the switch to put your car in valet mode etc.

no one else should have this unless thats the same spot they decided to mount theirs
