OEM Navigation Troubleshooting, Would like some info on JDM S2000 Navi
I have read a lot about trying to get an OEM s2k navigation system into non navi cars. However I have a different problem. I have a 99 JDM S2000 import with DVD navi and I am interested to see if I can get it to work. I am aware of the potential problems with discs etc. but my problem is more fundimental. Although I have power to the screen and DVD unit, I don't get any startup screen, the screen remains blank. The original head unit has been replaced with an aftermarket unit, leaving the audio connection (mute etc) disconnected. I am not sure if this would cause a problem (I havent been able to get a JDM 2000 wiring diagram).
The other issue is that I only have US/EUROPE DVD discs. Are these wholly incomapatible and is a disc needed before the initial splash screen is displayed?
I am just interested to see how far I can get with this, so any help, diagrams etc. would be much appreciated. BTW I have tried using the diagrams from the Odyssey and although the pin-outs on the DVD and screen units are the same the wiring doesn't appear to be the same?

IF you have this working... a couple of questions
1) If you remove the dvd disk, do you get anything on the screen if you turn the ignition on i.e. does the unit boot at all (splash screen)?
2) Are you using a JDM dvd disk? If not does a us/european work ok?
3) if its jdm, have you got a source for these disks, so i can try one?

i am using the JDM disk right now i have not tried any us disk yet.
i am sure some one can make a copy of my dvd navi disk for a small fee.

Thanks for the info and pics...
One question you seem to have an aftermarket head unit in there.
I have a kenwood fitted to mine and the navi connector had to be left disconnected (this is used in the OEM head to put the navi voice over the speakers).
In you setup have you got and sound? Is the connector used? If not has it been linked in somehow?
If my screen is not bad, the only thing I could think of is that the head unit somehow powers up the screen. I which I could get hold of a wiring diagram to sort this out
