i have been thinking about upgrading my flywheel to a lighter one, right now my car is packing a bone stock b16a3 (that's getting boosted very soon)

my friends tell me that a lighter flywheel on a boosted engine makes it a LOT harder to control launches....is it true?

whats your take on light flywheels on boosted engines?

Well obviously your friends haven't heard of two step..

we did take that into consideration.

but i have decided to not go with a two step...is it really that much harder to control launches on a turbo car with a say 7.5lb flywheel?

 

It's not hard as it is an inconvenience...Who likes to position their throttle at xxxx rpms...Some do, Some don't..

My advice is to tune in your wicked dance moves and hit teh strip..

most ppl would keep a heavier flywheel in boosted applications so the momentum helps it stay in boost longer compared to a lighter flywheel that wont kept the turbo spooled long

 

it makes sense...

so no lighter flywheel for me then.
