no u dont need to remove the head to do the valve replacement, u just need the right tools, i wsa just trying to find that tool for u on ebay and i dont see it listed right now. but it is around $50~$60. pretty easy tool to use but it is time consuming cause u have to remove one valve spring at one time and do u know how to take out valve cover and loose timing belt and cams, cam gears ?

yes i know how to change the timing belt and remove the valve cover...that's what got me in this mess...
in the diy it says to skip the steps of changing the valves if the head is still in the car...i don't understand how to do it with the head still in...

are you talking about the valve seals or the valves themselves. you HAVE to take the head out the remove the valves. as far as the valves seals go, no you dont.
not worth it if there not damage and/or if that's the only upgrade your doing.
