***Anyone with comments or criticism on the Alpine CDA-7893/7894
anyone with some comments because i am thinking about purchasing this deck... i wanna know if all the hype is worth it....
Never heard anything bad about those units. Go with 7894.
....better yet, save some more and go for 7995.

I'm a pioneer man myself. But if I had to do it over again, I'd go with Alpine.

You decide your headunits according to color? Well, if you don't mind the lack of mp3 capability, go ahead.
I got the 7893 recently .. the mp3 playback is the same on both headsets (same mp3 decoder chip!). The advantage with the 7894 is the blackout mode, and remote control. Both headsets can change from green to orange cause the buttons are opaque, it looks cool when going from direct sunlight to shade (the buttons drift from white to green to orange)

im getting the apline 7863 headunit this friday. It's a 2000 model... I wanted the alpine mp3 deck but my I can't pass this offer up. headunit + pioneer premier component speakers for $170. Can't beat that.

I have a question though...is this true?
"V-Drive hybrid MOSFET60 internal amp — high-current draw requires direct fused connection to your battery "
I like mine but I haven't tinkered with it enough (time correction, especially). I had an old Pioneer DEH-P2000 that I replaced and honestly, I didn't hear any difference as far as sound quality goes! It makes me think what an awesome h/u my Pioneer was!
I haven't had any problems. I ran 16 guage wire to power the h/u from the battery and grounded it to the chassis. Everything works well and the internal amp is POWERFUL! I'm running 2 sets of OEM upgraded Pioneer speakers in the front of my '99 Si and they sound great. Still, better speakers are needed. I installed a US Acoustics 4 channel amp over the holiday weekend and am looking forward to getting Infinity Reference 6.5" components to hook it up to

I'd definitely go for it. I have the 7876 model and it's freakin' awesome. I'm thinking about selling it just so I can get the newer model with MP3 capability.
I am getting the 7894 tomorrow for $200 thanks to my friend that works at Circuit City considering that it's $400 retail
Go with the 7894. Believe me, the 4V preouts DO make a difference. The 7893 only has the 4V sub output. I kinda prefer the look of the 7893 though. The blue illumination matches the stock Integra interiors better than the switchable green/amber of the 7894. (unless you own an ITR)
{The 7893 doesn't have mp3 playback and comes with a remote also. 7893 also does not have illuminated buttons. 7894 also has CD Text and MP3 ID3 Tag Information Display.}
my mistake !? (if it makes a difference).. The model i got is the 7893 R .. It does have Mp3 playback, id3 Tag and CD text infomation. scrolls across from left to right, kinda neat.. also all 3 pre-outs are 4.5 v, i just checked !

I'm using the 7893 and love it. The 7894 is very nice but I have no regrets at all with my setup, it sounds great. Plus I have no need for MP3's so I didn't need to have that as an option.
both units are motorized, have remotes, are xm ready
,not to metion they have digital time allignment ( great 4 the sound comp guys ) you cant go wrong with either. Oh and a plus,,,if you want to upgrade and amplify all of your spaekers you can turn off the built in d drive amp. way cool
