Default low idle, can't figure it out

I did a search, and didn't come up with anything helpful.. I realize I'll probably catch **** for this..

So I have a 99 DC2, with a 97 B18B1 (salvage title, the motor was stolen). I want to upgrade to at least a GS-R, but I don't have to financing for that just yet, and I want this this to just run right for the time being. When I start the car, it idles a little higher than it should (approx. 1,000 rpm), no big deal. After I drive it for a while, then stop at say a triffic light for example, it only idles at about 200 or 300 rpm. I've changed the plugs, wires, distributor, and tried adjusting the idle on the throttle body, all to no avail. I feel almost like the engine's running too rich (it smells horrible), and is putting in more fuel than can combust. If that's the case, what's casing that? It has a no-name aftermarket fuel rail that came on it, not sure if that could be it.. The exhaust is off-brand ebay junk, and I'm not sure there's anything in the cat, so I'm not sure that's helping.. I ordered a greddy cat back in an effort to start fixing that issue...

Any input would be awesome, I'm at a loss here. I love Hondas, but the problem I've found with them is fixing everything everyone else has done half-assed.

try changing you o2 sensor...it dictates how much fuel and air is mixed in the exhaust and adjusts accordingly...a bad o2 sensor will make you car run like ****

thanks dude.. that's crossed my mind.. I know it's not cheap either.. and I'm not sure if it's up stream or down stream that could be screwing it up.

im having the same problem too, but for me it happened right after i changed my spark plugs, and as for the high revs as soon as you start your car, that's normal becuase your car is trying to heat the engine up a little more so it revs higher

I know it's not the plugs... I thought first that it might be a spark issue, so I threw in NGK plugs and wires.. didn't help, moved on to the distributor, didn't help... this thing is throwing codes like crazy.. the cylinder misfires stopped once I changed the plugs and wires, I've got a catalyst below efficiency (presumably the o2 sensor / cat / exhaust), ignition system malfunction / misfire, and a voltage too high on the MAP sensor. I want to throw it away and start over..
