question about z6 head swap i bet no one has asked
so i have a civic with a z6, and i am buying a crx si, and plan to take the head off of the z6 and put it on the si. now, what do i do with the head from the si? is it possible to put it onto the z6 block and it still run?
I'm assuming you have a EG civic si (came with z6) so it's obd1 and the crx si (d16a6) is obd0 so you have to go back to obd0 to use the A6 dizzy (Z6 will not bolt up without a lot of modding). And I don't think it will be worth putting the A6 head on the Z6 block. So I would just find another head to do your mini me, just my 2 cents.
are you sure about it not bolting up? the write up on the faq says all you need is the timing belt, fpr, gaskets, and an rpm switch.
"Bolt the T-Belt cover back on, and then bolt the drive pulley back on using the impact wrench (you did have to get one didn't you? I knew it!) Slide the Alternator belt, and AC belt back on the drive pulley. Tighten them back up respectively. Bolt the Dist. back on. The A6 Dist. is NOT going to line up to the Z6 head, so you have several options here...either use the two side bolts with large washers to hold the assembly on, or do some creative metal fabrication to make it look better. This is entirely up to you. A suggestion would be to bolt it down with the same amount of room on either side of the bolts, incase you need to advance or retard yor timing a bit."

What he is talking about is the distributor. The bolt pattern is different so you will have to cut the distributor to make it work. As far as swapping heads, yes you can do it, it will work.
i appreciate everyones help, becuase i am new to this kind of stuff. i do know how to work on cars though. but is it possible to use the z6 distributor? i suck at understanding the obd and wiring stuff.
Think of it this way. EF civics/CRX's in the US up to 1991 were Obd0. All civics 1992 or newer went OBD1 and then OBD2.
You have two engines , one OBD0 and the other OBD1. The problem lies with one sensor in the distributor. So you cannot use an OBD0 distributor with an OBD1 ECU and vice versa. You have to use OBD1 ECU with OBD1 distributor and the same for OBD0.
