Default Replacing auto tranny shift ****

I want to get something similar to this.
http://cgi.ebay.com/TITANIUM-A...wItem
Has anyone had an experience with these from ebay? Should the OEM shift **** be easy to take off? And will this one be easy to put on?

Its made of titanium so it should be pretty sturdy.. But once again, I want another opinion.

This one is made of billet, but it doesnt look very nice.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...sting

Any thoughts on which one to get?

I also want to get a boot for the shifter. I think it'd clean up the center console & make it look pretty dam nice. Has anyone done this?

there are two screws on the oem automatic shift **** on the sides its a Phillips just unscrew and pull off the ****, however watch out for a spring and a white piece that may fly off, as for the boot tons of people do it, matter of fact theres even a write up on another site that you can make ur automatic have a "short shifter" look if u wanted that...

bad thing is, i cant remember where i saw that write up

Awesome, If anyone knows where that write up is, let me know! But about the shift *****, I'm kinda sketchy about using one of the ***** that the whole button pushes down in order to take it out of gear & change the gears. Have you guys seen that?

Do you guys know how the mechenism works, seeing that the OEM shift **** has a small button on the SIDE?

If you undo the two screws and lift the **** off you will see the actual mechanism

DO NOT LIFT UP THIS PIECE! Your shift assembly will be destroyed because there is a little pin down inside of there.

Many manufacturers sell shift ***** for automatics that will work with this assembly

There are push button style ones

And some types that all you have to do is push down on the entire ****

Yes the MT boot will fit the automatic but you must remove the AT shift plate

I did not have to remove my automatic shift plate. You just need to disassemble your armrest and the radio surround to access the shifter plate. I used a manual shift boot right over the shifter plate using string and zip ties to keep it down. I can go through all my gears without it coming out. Here is the setup for the OP:

Shifter - Ebay special, you push down on the whole shifter (spray painted black)
Shift boot - 92-95 civic EG manual (MT) shift boot
Accesories - Zip ties and string

TASAuto, is the OEM boot that you sell on your website very similar to Dohctor_B's shift boot? Is it similar to the 94-97 accord shift boot? There is no pic to enlarge on the 6th gens. If it is exactly like the 5th gen one shown on your site, i'll purchase it.

What other shift boot from Honda will fit my accord? I want one that screws into the stock holes.

Also, what are the dimensions of the Razo shift **** that you sell with the shift boot? How tall is it?

I was try to keep these posts about general info and not an ad for our company.

The Razo **** is about 4 inches tall- Here is a comparison

That should give you a good idea of what size it is. We use an oem shift boot and remove the collar so that the boot will match the console and the ****. We provide oem mounting screws so that the boot bolts up to the factory console. Razo makes a quality product and I had this **** in my personal car for more than 4 years and never had a problem.

The 4th, 5th and 6th gen kits all use different shift boots. They are all the year specific oem boots so that they will be a direct bolt-in with no modification. For the 98-02 click on the enlarged image and you can see the difference in the mounting brackets between the generations.

The **** works fine. It is a simple design with a spring inside of it and a base to allow you to push down on the whole assembly. I can't imagine it breaking, unless by an act of god the spring somehow breaks. Anyway, my job I did was custom since I used a EG shift boot. I discarded the bracket and just used good ol' zip ties and some string to keep it from coming out.

Trust me, this mod is not really a difficult thing to do, but there are two ways to do it. Either you do what I did and just buy some cheap shift **** and any shift boot you've got lying around (I had a EG shift boot in my garage) and take apart the plastics around the shifter and just work some magic. Or you can buy the Razo shift **** and a OEM accord boot so that you can screw it in using factory mounts. You can mix and match whatever combination you want: It's up to you and depends on how much you want to spend. It's suprisingly simple and cheap (only $10 for me). good luck

The shift cover plate is the piece with the letter for your gears on it. You can see in the above stock picture that there isn't exactly a gap inbetween the plate and the black console. You might be able to squeeze a boot in there but it is easy enough to undo the 4 screws holding on the plate.
