Going back to stock motor mounts.
After having stiff aftermarket motor mounts for 3 years I'm getting a bit tired of the dash shaking and noise associated with this, has anyone here changed back to stock mounts? Would I benefit from just changing the front mount? My racing days are over and I just want a nice comfortable street ride now.
I have the innovative grey mounts and I dont run a front mount and its a little rough so I would assume you would need to change more than just the 1 front mount.
I've also got the innovative grey mounts.. they'r stiff but its not too bad. no front mount, either. I'd say all brand new stock mounts would be comfortable & still be stiff enough.. personal choice tho. i hear ya on the vibrating dash.. but its only at take off so.

What mounts do you have?
If you went to some new OEM mounts it ought to be pretty comfy...

I have energy suspension mounts if I can remember correctly? Changing all of them might be a hassle so I may hold off. I guess I'll wait till I get the car out in the summer (damn Canadian winter!)

Oh, man those are pretty crappy compared to full replacement mounts (Innovative ones especially). I would take those inserts out for sure, it's very easy. Also they only made the front and back inserts, so you won't need to worry about the sides.

good to know I wasn't sure since I had my motor built in 2002. So the es mounts are crap eh, I think I'll just go back to stock ones. Thanks for your replies gents.

i run custom made solid billet mounts, and i love em.. the only time i ever notice any vibration is when i look in my rear view and it looks like a earthquake going on. Theres no way in hell i would put stock mounts back on............
just so u know, most the cabin vibration comes from the back mount closest to the fire wall.
i had ES inserts too and i hated them. i finially go a Innovative style mount in the back, and left the ES inserts up front and vibration wasnt bad at all.

So do you have stock mounts with inserts or aftermarket mounts ? It sounds like your just running ES inserts, which arent too hard to remove.
yea the rear ES insert from what i remember is what causes more vibration. And correct me if im wrong the front is actually the insert which helps eliminate wheel hop moreso than the rear anyway. So if you want a more comfy ride I would first take the rear out.
And no the ES inserts are not crap. I personally thought it was the best mod i did when i was bolt ons. It eliminated just about all wheel hop for a fraction of the price of aftermarket mounts which at the time were not even available for my 5th gen. However when doing them you do sacrifice a nice quite idle.
