THe people with rising sun designs on your vc's spark plug covers, etc. How did you do it? was it freehand or with a stencil. I would be very interested in your input on this and the best way going about it.
I got bored at work last week.. it was freehand. i used a string and a pencil to outline the circle and sorta guestimated on the rays. came out pretty good.

That looks freaking amazing! I don't even like EFs, but you sir have shown me a new light. To the OP, find a pic of the rising sun on teh interwebz, print it out, cut the picture out of the paper, and use the sunless paper as a stencil.

i bet to defer
the cheapest way to do it is use 3m green masking tape, tape it, cut out the area, spray and lift the tape.
depends on what paint, you might no want to let the paint dry competely before removing it

I had a thing... (still have) for green and yellow, this is my old rising sun.

Used some paint stripper to clean it all up.

Shaved a couple of things on the VC first... then primed, sanded.

The first color... green

Then the stripes...yellow, which actually fade as they get closer to the left.

Finished product.... and i really love it!

The paint was all done using a detailing gun btw.

Here's my valve cover that I have on my RHD Prelude. It's more maroon than red cause I sprayed a pearl coat on it which cause the red to change color. What I did was strip the old stuff off with Air Craft paint remover. Sprayed the whole valve cover white, then covered it with tape, then drew out the Sun with the beams and cut that out. Everything that was exposed, I painted red, then took the rest of the tape off and sprayed a pearl coat, then 3 layers of clear. I didn't use the rattle can stuff, I used actual car paint

Thanks man! I liked what you did to your car as well.
Just 2 weeks ago, there was a civic (1998 coupe) with a rising sun going on, started out just like yours but his stripes didn't just go on the front end (which by seeing on your car, makes me like it a lot more than having all around the car!), his was all around the car... a bit to much perhaps, he had it for some time, and we painted the entire car yellow.
