Question regarding Honda OEM vs Aftermarket clutches
Honda OEM replacement vs aftermarket...
(I am a daily driver, stock application, not looking into doing a whole lot with the car, 5th gen)
I was thinking of getting a Exedy OEM replacement, but wondering how much milage will I get out of it in comparison to a Honda OEM clutch. If you've gone through a few your opinions would be appreaciated
Friend says a Exedy stage 2 will give me the performance option (tho I dont have plans to do anything) and says it will last longer than the exedy OEM replacement clutch.
Does a performance clutch necessarily mean its going to last longer than the OEM replacement?
I wont be abusing the clutch much, I have only plans to go to one drag meet this year and thats it. Just to say I have dragged
Peace.

I still don't get why people think aftermarket clutches on near stock cars are an "upgrade". They are not. You are just throwing extra money into a part that won't do anything for you.
Exedy is a clutch supplier to many car companies. They have proven to make great, long lasting clutches. Get one.
For your application, DO NOT get a Stage 2! Get the ~$120 Exedy clutch. That's EXACTLY what you need.

No one leaves a car "stock", especially a Honda. If anything, once he starts upgrading (and he'll most likely will), he'll have a clutch to go along with it.

any idea how much mileage you got out of that exedy? (Snobordboi)... is it the OEM replacement or something up from it? (your hp?)
Thanks, Andy its a bit reassuring cause I am not going to do anything to the car, maybe a OEM lip kit, and rims at most... but I doubt it.
I got a quote from Honda Dealership on a OEM replacement, and they wanted 515$ (CDN) (I am like, what??????), which is why I got skeptical of the 150$ tag on the Exedy (US).
We do pay more in the Canada for most things, but 515$ was a bit ridiculous imo.
The current clutch got a 120 kms on it... and needs to be replaced soon.

Took a little getting used to (daily driver). This is my third clutch. Cost me 200+ for the part and 200 to install. (Sorry -- too n00b to intall my own clutch.) This surely beats the $950 estimate I got from my regular wrench.
The OEM clutch lasted about 90K miles. It didn't help that a) I was living in SF at the time and b) had a leaking master cylinder.
The "Brand X" emergency replacement I got after that lasted about 36K miles. Again, I think the culprit was some undiagnosed leaks. It probably would have held out longer, but I didn't want to risk it plus I'm adding some more mods. And I live a hilly part of cali.
