Default 85k on oil pump. Need to replace or not worry about it?

So I've read some articles on 'rebuilding' them, but I honestly don't have the know-how to properly check clearances if I start taking it apart. I really am tapped out on money with the whole engine re-build process and dropping another $150 is kinda making me sick to think about.

With 85k on the oil pump, I read a lot of peoples responses to prior threads in the ITR forum saying 'It should be fine, just bolt back up and go' and that they usually wouldn't replace until like 150,000 miles.

Thoughts? I'm getting a 84x89 bore and stroke, Darton sleeves, MID kit, etc, am I cool to just bolt up the oil pump as it came off?

not what you want to hear but it is cheap insurance for 150 bucks. plus, the motor is already apart.

Its listed at $98.36 from Len and you get a HT discount so i would spend the few dollars for peace of mind. No sense in doing all that work and then half-assing an oil pump.

I'd replace it for sure. Why would you skimp out on a ~$100 part that could be the demise of your ~$5000+ motor?

You can afford to sleeve the block but cant afford an oil pump?

Thats like using kong dong on your local hookers but forgetting the lube.

Give yourself the piece of mind and get the oem pump...
