D16Z6 economy rebuild
Hi guys, new to the Honda world.
I am trying to resurect a '92 Civic EX for use to save gas. The original D16Z6 was run out of oil and sent #2 through the block. I purchased a "good" D16A6 block and am building it now for the Z6's head. My question is about the piston tolerances. YES I AM GOING BASIC AND CHEAP! After honing the newer block the new rings are sized at the maximum running tolerance with no sizing. After assembly will this motor have any life and how much could it smoke? If this was a customer or a car I would keep for many years I would bore it out and oversize. Again, I bought the car for $300 and am trying to go cheap. How forgiving is a Honda?
Thank you for your opinion, Angus

This is probably beyond the experience or technical knowledge base of 99% of H-T. lol.
I would ask in the tech forum.
But you say that the rings are at the maximum running tolerance? If so, why should you have a problem - as long as they're not beyond the tolerance I think you should be fine.
