Threw MIL code 90 and 91 after gsr swap.
Currently the shell is a 1997 Integra Rs. With a recent swap with a 1998+ gsr motor. After installing the motor I ran into a few issue that hurt my pockets. A few codes came on after the swap. Code 23,41,65,90, and 91. I got 23, 41, and 65 fixed. Those were thrown because of bad grounding and also a burnt ecu (37820-p72-a03). After changing the ecu to another p72. I ran into the new codes 90 and 91. I was able to pass my smog test. But this check engine light is really bothering me. When I first start my car after it has been sitting for a while. The car bogs for about a minute as if it wasnt getting enough gas. A minute later it starts to run fine. I really want my car to run smooth, because I am getting tired of spending money on things that could pose to be the problem when it really isn't... If anyone out there could help me, it would be greatly appeciated.
--Also when i swapped to the new ecu. Code 91 was the first code due to the FTP sensor? So I tricked the ecu to thinking I have a FTP sensor with a potentiometer. Please help... I've worked on this car for a while now. And it's beginning to get irritating fixing the car. If anyone could help me resolve my problems and also guide me to the correct way of fixing these problems....
P0451 (91) Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor Range/Performance,
P0452 (91) Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor Circuit Low Input,
P0453 (91) Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor Circuit High Input,
P1456 (90) EVAP Emission Control System Leak Detected (Fuel Tank System),
P1457 (90) EVAP Emission Control System Leak Detected (Control Canister System).

Maybe your gas cap? Have you traced over your lines from the charcoal canister? Did you replace or get into the fuel pump for any reason? Have you replaced the pressure sensor? It just sounds like there's nothing right about it...
When you placed the potentiometer on there, did your CEL for that code go away?

when i placed the potentiometer in. It cleared out the code 91... but i want to get it fixed correctly... and no i didn't mess with the fuel pump... and i did a quick run through on the lines from the canister. Some one told me its either my canister or my fuel pump since it isn't a gsr fuel pump... but i don't wanna change and spend money on things that (might) fix it... more than rather buy it and it will fix it... but yea i know that wont happen... but its a wish

What ECU do you now have? I don't think 97 have the fuel tank pressure sensor (OBD2a). I thought that was in the 00-01 models (OBD2b).
well its another p72 ecu obd2a of course... cause my plugs match and also its a 96-98 gsr ecu manual transmission.
I double checked the Helm manuals and the part diagrams. The fuel tank pressure sensor was added in 1998. (I was mistaken about that feature being associated with the switch to OBDIIb.) What is the p/n for your ECU? If the number in this sequence 37820-P72-A0# is greater than 3, you have a 98 or newer ECU. Your 1997 chassis does not have the sensors in the fuel tank.
1998 RS Fuel Tank (I think part 8 has the sensor):

1997 RS Fuel Tank:

You can either get a 97 or older ECU or fool the current ECU into thinking those sensors are reading correctly. I suggest getting a Helm manual.

Thanks for the info! Right now im fooling the ecu with a potentiometer. But that got rid of code 91... now I get code 90 and my car bogs when its first turned on for about a minute and drops to 100 rpms... and then almost a minute later it drives fine and nothings wrong. Only happens when the motor is warm.. when motor is cold it doesn't bog...
So bro, you cleared the P0453 (91) but did the other codes throw? I am throwing this code and are going to try the potentiometer trick and are wondering if the other codes are going to throw?
Thanks.
Thanks.
sorry to bring this back from the dead but i searched and this was the only thread i can find that matched what i am looking for.
Heres the problem:
got a 1996 Integra using a 1998 usdm ECU
check engine light is on, getting the "P1457 (90) EVAP Emission Control System Leak Detected (Control Canister System)"
Did some research:
the 1996 Integra doesn't have or come equipped with the EVAP control canister vent shut valve and EVAP bypass solenoid valve. the 1998 usdm ECU being used is looking for these two valves, and i think that is why the engine check light "P1457 (90) EVAP Emission Control System Leak Detected (Control Canister System)" keeps coming back.
Now heres my question:
can i bypass, trick, and fool the 1998 usdm ECU that the missing EVAP control canister vent shut valve and EVAP bypass solenoid valve are still there by just grounding the
A28 2WBS and A29 VSV wires from the ECU? these are just valves that open and close when power is applied right?
any help and info or feedback is much appreciated. hope this info helps in anyway
thanks

update:
skipped the grounding of A28 and A29, don't want to take any chances f-ing up stuff.
decided to scotchlok/tap A28 and A29 to A15 PCS EVAP Purge Control Solenoid Valve.
if CEL P1457 comes back i will post an update.

Yes Im digging up old post, but I am searching info relating to my code 90 on my 01 GSR aswell. Only difference I diddnt swap any mtr in and the car has been running fine since I first got her( years ago ). The car is sputtering from time to time, nothing major and the idle is consistantly jacked up, right around 1400/1500rpms..
A couple standard mods have been done, but they were done years ago and nothing minor or major has been recently done to cause a 90 to pop up.
I looked over the lines for fuel and the canister, verified no breaks in vaccum lines were present, sensor plugs all clipped in, everything is intacted....
This is really pissing me off nd agrivating..
Did you ever find a resolution to your code 90??
Thanks, Cole
