Best place to mount S-AFC?
I'm getting my SAFC in on Thursday and was wondering where it should go? I don't want it too visible, like maybe on my dash in that slot under the radio? Would it fit there? Or what about in my glove box (or does it get too hot in there)? Suggestions? And pics would be great too.
I have a 91 teg and I put mine on the left side of the gauge cluster on the dash right above the drivers only air vent. I wanted to put it on my center console in that little bin in front of the cigarette lighter and ashtray but I use those alot so that wouldn't work for me.
I put mine in the glove box.
I don't want people seeing it because it might give them an idea that they can have it
.
just make sure that u leave the glove box a little open when the car is parked under the CA sun.

i'm not sure if the plastic used in the S-afc could withstand the heat but i've seen the tape records melt in the glove box.
it gets too hot in the glove box and it would not be a pretty sight to see a melted plastic that costs $300. it worked for me so far.
I have mine mounted above the rear view mirror, but the tape keeps melting making it drop. I think I am going to screw it in somewhere so it stays.

i have it bolted directly into the headliner... no thief ever looks up but I guess the ones that surf h-t wil now. It actually angles well to provide straight view. Can't really see it from outside the car anyways so
So is the consensus that it will be too hot in the glove box? I kinda wanna keep it in there to retain the stock interior look and so that thieves don't get any ideas. As far as heat goes in the car, can it damage the unit? Cause sometimes my car just sits in the sun, not direct sun, but it gets hot in the sealed car.

mine's swappable. i put velcro on the dash and on the bottom of my VAFC stand and my air freshener. when i drive, the VAFC does up there. when i park, the air freshener goes upa nd the VAFC sits nice and cozy in my console
That's really clean mattL. i've seen that setup before in person, the lighter fits well. Also theres the flip plastic cover thats a bit of a custom job but too much effort for me.
