Where do motor mount inserts go? Upper or Lower mounts?
I'm about to order some Energy or Prothane Inserts for my Civic, but I have a question.
I know one goes on the rear mount, but do the other 2 go on the top mounts that can be seen from the engine bay, or the lower mounts? (Lower tranny mount and the A/C mount)

Rear transmission mount, AC bracket mount, transmission front lower mount. The last two are torque mounts and do nothing but secure the engine against rocking and vibration, but the energy suspension inserts make them worthwhile, so I'm all for it
I could be wrong but we put ours in the rear engine mount and the top tranny mount and the top engine mount by the cam gear. You can see the top tranny mount with inserts in this photo. The drivers side mount is the custom one for the B series tranny kit. I don't have any photo's if the car with the D series tranny.
Hmm, now I'm confused..
Can anyone confirm? I need to reduce wheel hop, will putting inserts in the lower torque mounts do anything?
Is it even possible to get an insert in an OEM driver side upper mount since it's liquid filled?

Oh so you have a later model drivers mount. IDK may be you can change it out.
I have not seen inserts for the two lower mounts but I don't look at anything other then 92-95's.
When we had the D tranny we had inserts in the drivers top mount and only one in the rear mount.

Okay I did some reasearch and I think Energy makes the lower mounts, and prothane makes the upper mounts..
But bump for some more info. Want to order these tonight but still confused

Help out the guy's that support the sport. If they can't get them for you, ask them for the name of someone who can.
You can tell them I sent you.

For the 96-00 civic with the liquid filled upper drivers side mount you have to pick a mount that replaces the entire thing... I know hasport makes a replacement upper mount for them.

Good to know, that's exactly the info I was looking for.
But they do sell the kit for the 96-00 civic / 99-00 Si (my car), so how does that work out.
Do they go into the lower mount/torque mounts?

No offense but I think your question was answered sufficiently already. To recollect thoughts:
If you are getting inserts for the tranny mount, simple.. rubber comes out, inserts go in. Rear mount, same deal. If you are getting inserts for the driver side mount (96-00), the "space ship" mount has to go and is replaced by a cage and mount similar to what was pictured above. That's the weakest mount so nobody is going to reinforce the inserts of a mount whose metal will likely tear anyway. That's why it's replaced.
If you go with Hasport or a similar brand, their kit comes with the cage and mount. Depending on your motor, you may or may not need to swap out the mount bolted to the block to accommodate these chassis mounts.

From my experience:
Prothane only makes inserts for the upper tranny, upper driverside and rear mount
Energy only makes inserts for the lower torque mounts and the rear mount
Personally, I hate inserts. They didn't do **** for me (wheel hop wise) and were a pain in the *** to install because they make the mount wider.
Also, if you have a swap, becareful ordering them, mounts have different holes so when I ordered them it was really confusing since I had JDM B16A mounts and of course, 2 of them didnt even work.
Best thing to do, fill the mounts in with DIY urethane. I did to my mounts and no more wheel-hop. Car vibrates a decent amount but i feel badass

^ That's just what I needed to know. I didn't know which brand to order, but now I do. Energy Sus is what I will be getting.
I have a 00 Civic Si with the gay driver side top mount.. So I'm going to try the Energy Sus lower torque mount inserts, and rear mount before swapping out the entire cage on the top driver mount.
Hopefully they do the trick. Thanks.

Since this is for an EM1, they go on the lower rear mount, the AC mount, the trans bracket mount, and the lower trans bracket mount. Depending on how complete the kit is.
