according to what he wrote. You need the charcole canister for the ITR. You might also want to replace the ECU. That's what I had to do. I have a 1993 SI with a 1995 GS-R and I had to go through all those steps. And the same person ref'ed my car. Beleive its worth the hassle to go through this.

yeah i forgot about the charcoal canister. that was my fault
. i've already replaced it. why did you have to replace your ecu? how did you fix the evap system so the obd2 scanner can scan it?

I didn't have to do the evap test. That's a new thing that they started doing this year. I ref'ed my car exactly two years ago. I just had to smog my car in January. And that's when I found out about the evap test. Did you check to see if your purge valve is good. Maybe that's why your ECU isn't reading it. And the reason I replaced the ECU in my car was because when they scanned it it showed up as faulty. So Gustavo said it was probably moded at one point. So I changed it. And it passed after that.
Yes the new EVAP / LPFET test started Dec,1 07. All it does is pump a little air into the gas tank to see if there are any leaks. When we do this test we pinch off the hose from the gastank to the charcoal cannister. We do not test the charcoal cannister. This test is for vehicles 1995 and older. 1996 and newer have onboard tests that are run called monitors that check for leaks in the EVAP system. Out of 3-400 cars that my stations have tested only 3-4 cars have failed these tests.
For the OP, Your ECU is not supporting the EVAP monitor. Either it has been modded or something else. There are three states that the monitor can be in.
It is either "not supported", "incomplete" or "complete" By what the ref wrote your ECU has it listed as not supported which is your problem.

so when you took your car in back at the ref for the 2nd time, did he throw it back on the sniffer, or did gustavo just inspected what needed to be corrected?
