Default strange problem with clutch/tranny

i'm having a problem that's a little hard to describe but here goes...

when i'm driving my car and i'm cruising at around 25% throttle or if i'm decelerating then my car will jerk back almost like i hit the breaks and it'll stay like that until i push the pedal down a little more then it will jerk forward. it used to do it every once in a while but now it does it in every gear when i'm in that throttle range. it doesn't do it when i'm accelerating but as soon as i let off the throttle it does it. i'm not even sure that the problem is in the tranny but it feels like it's coming from there and i can't think of where else the problem would be.

has anyone seen this before?? thanks for any help

How are your axles? When my axles were really bad (I was lazy), the car started to do this. I'm guessing because there were so many shaved off teeth that it would just spin until it hit a good tooth on the gear.

Do you hear clicking every time the car jerks?

i don't hear any clicking, it's more like a thunk from the engine moving (does that count?). how would i check if the axles are bad? do i have to take them off?

mine does this, i just engage the clutch, when this happens , or give it more throttle. Still would like to know why it happens, i thought it was just normal of a manual tranny car.

Motor mounts maybe? Also do our cars have throttle position sensors? An out of adjustment / bad TPS can cause a car to have problems with throttle transitions.

hhmmm...that's an interesting thought. i was having a high idle problem along with the surging problem but it recently just went away. i always assumed that it had to be a tranny problem but it could possibly be throttle related.

now i'll just have to find out what to look for...

does anyone else know any information on the TPS sensor, i have noticed, my idle being very low at some points, and even stalling out sometimes. Not sure the cause. Would throttle cable have anything at all to do with this?

Your TPS isn't positioned correctly, that's why your RPMs are surging... I had the same problem... The motor jerking too much won't be too good for your axles in the long run... My motor still jerks a bit sometimes, due to poor mounts...
