Default Has anyone used sea foam on a high milage engine???

yes i searched the forum and did not find an answer... my 1995 ls has 180,000 miles and i was told that products like sea foam can clean out the carbon on your piston rings while effecting your compression for the worst... my engine really needs to get cleaned out.. if seam foam is bad is there anythin safe?

yes seafoam is good after doing extensive research i will make it short, sweet and simple for you...
seafoam cleans out carbon buildup, and if carbon is holding gaps for you and it starts leaking it will do it anyhow soon
run it through the brake booster line only(by the brake master cylinder) slowly and remove o2 sensor beforehand...
after done, let it sit with car off for 10 mins and then start it up
beat the crap out of the car until white smoke stops coming out, replace o2 sensor, spark plugs and do oil change....

ok thank you ..that helps.... so the sea foam wont damage a high milage engine at all?? not even with alot of carbon build up in the piston rings?

it depends on how you look at it...it will clean the piston rings of carbon and if they're shot the seafoam will expose the problem...so technically your engine can run shittier after using seafoam but it worked great for me the first time i used it with 12x,xxx miles

If your engine is really high mileage, I'd say 200k+ then it could affect it negatively. At that high a mileage, carbon build up can, to a certain extent, be what's sealing your engine from leaks (compression, etc.). The removal of such carbon will cause these areas to become exposed.
