Default tein bump rubber

I'm getting ready to install my tein s springs on my dc2, but when i read these instructions they came with, i got really confused. It says that for dc2s you have to cut 1inch of the "bump rubber" in the front and rear. What is it talking about? is it those plastic things on the ends of the spring or what?

bump rubber = bumpstop

Its the piece of rubber on the shock shaft that acts as an additional spring as you approach full compression and saves your shocks from destroying themselves.
