Do you need to remove the b16 transmission to remove this? pic
okay i just searched this problem i have a 1st gen b16 swap in my EF and its obvious that my shifter fork snapped... so im taking off the transmission from the engine .... i have the tranny 1" from the block im shaking it up and down side to side and it wont budge off. any better procedures ???
When your playing with the tranny you should obviously be able to feel what or get a general idea of where it is binding!
Try to figure out what is holding it in. You sometimes have to let the engine hang down a bit on an ef chassis to get the trany out with ease. And also take off the bar that goes from the front cross member to the control arm on the passanger side. Makes getting the tranny in and out 100 times easier!!

yes, remove the linkage, you don't want to damage it. an AC compressor bolt is the perfect size to punch out the "bitch pin" with a hammer. I found that big heave hammers don't necessarily work better because its hard to get a good swing on it unless your car is on a lift. a smaller hammer sometimes works better, but if you have an air hammer, *BRAAPPPPPPP* done.
also make sure the transmission brace on the bottom (if there is one) is removed, and the dust shield/bolts are completely removed.
