Default 93 civic walbro fuel pump issue

I just installed my walbro fuel pump. I double checked all the connections and hoses. I've been driving it for a couple of days now, but today I noticed something different. I got a faint smell of hot wires and I checked the fuel pump wire and it was pretty warm. What do I need to do? Is it bad to run it on stock voltage? Should I run a new ground? Just wanted some advice before I spend another couple hours fixing it!

Thanks, any help appreciated,
Rob

Well I ran new 12G wire from the battery to the fuel pump with a switch and a fuse. Got new ground wire. Pump works like a charm and runs way smoother!
