AP1 w/ spoon radiator problem..
Im trying to help out my buddy.. we just installed a spoon radiator and a spoon header he brought off a member on s2ki (it has no markings but is a very sick header, anyone with a real spoon header, could you please post pics). The problem he is having is im sure we got 100% of the air out of the system but the fans do not kick on, it will goto 4 bars with no heat but then some how will gain heat. Its eatting up fluid but not burning it in the exhaust or going in the oil, we just did a oil change and the oil is fine. From what he sid it heats up blows mad steam out then cools down and works fine stays at 3 bars.. He has a spoon cap that he had to mod the filler neck on the radiator due to the cap not fitting and a local radiator shop said that is needed to be done on alot of these big race radiators. Does it sound like it needs a new therostat? Still sucking air in somewhere? I dont know anymore and he wants to get it fixed. I told him the only way is to presure test the system but he does not that have the tools for that now. The radiator is wayy thicker than a koyo, im hoping someone on here can help me we still have the vortec SC kit to put on and some other goodies.

The stock radiator would have been fine.
You shouldn't have modded the filler neck. That may be your issue.
Where does the steam come from?

he said the steam comes from the overflow.. its a spoon cap thats like 1.3bar i guess. I know the stock rad is fine but he wants bigger and better parts... the fans do not kick on also.. only way is when you turn the ac on. Its a nice radiator for sure but i think it is overkill.. its his loot im just installing everything for him.. cept the radiator he did that lol. The car was 100% before the rad.. it has no issues with cooling.

spoon sports has two different radiator caps, sounds like you need to get the correct cap!!!!!!!!!!!! The radiator is not sealed off properly.
