VX wheels dont clear caliper on Si front brakes? Any help??
I have a 1994 civic Si coupe. the 13" vx wheels fit fine in the back. but ive heard that even with spacers they still wont clear the front brakes? is there any way i can make them fit. i already grinded down the caliper .. maybe not enough.. but i really like these wheels and how they look any help?..
get hx wheels, they look better nyways and theyll fit with spacers
to get the vx wheels to fit youll probably have to downgrade to dx front brakes i believe those came on 13" steelies from the factory

if i downgraded to dx front brakes..what would i need just the caliper/caliper brackets..? and would it bolt right up?
well i highly doubt ill have any trouble braking with 1994 civic coupe dx brakes. compared to my si's... plus i love the wheels.. i dont care.
theres actually some decent brands..i was thinking sumitomo 185's...i just love the look of the vx's on my coupe.. so ill do some minor work to make the fronts fit.. my car is a daily driver, not drag racer/auto-x so rotors .7 inch smaller wont make a diff.

Tell that to your insurance company when they do an analysis on the accident when your car was totalled, and they find that you intentionally degraded the functioning of your car's braking system. Or, if you sell your car that way without disclosing that you degraded the brakes (because no one will knowingly buy it that way), and the next owner gets in an accident and sues you when he finds out.
Every once in a while, someone asks about something that has BAD IDEA written all over it, and this is a perfect example.

Indeed. I don't know which part was better; the grinding of the callipers or the decision to down grade the brakes.
It could be worse, he didn't ask if he could put drums up front, just like the rears, to make it work.

didnt some USDM Si's come with the 9.5 rotors? like come on ppl.. ppl do b16/gsr swaps in dx coupes all the time and leave the brakes.. maybe 1/3rd do brake upgrades..

Look, everyone is telling you not to do it. If you are looking for someone to tell you to do it, it won't be here. If you are looking of justification, it won't be here. You asked for advice, we gave, you didn't listen. It's not like I am going to drive the 3 hrs to Hamilton and stop you from doing it.
If you are still insistent on doing it then just get on with it and stop wasting people's time. Go ahead, down grade your brakes, maybe you will kill someone, maybe you won't.

Oh so its okay for ppl to swap hubs/suspension components from diff year/model hondas, that were off Different cars, so ill just buy a dx coupe and then the Vx rims will fit.. wtf is the diff. why do u guys think its such a bad thing swapping my si knuckle/hub from the same model year civic/body style/ same weight car.(dx)... the rotor size would only be .7 of an inch smaller? and some usdm si civics CAME with that 9.5" size hub, and btw.. I asked how it could be done.. i didnt ask for reasons not to do it. so if you dont know how to make the vx rims fit. dont post a reply to my q. Thanks
it just seems like an awful lot of work to downgrade your brakes just to fit some not so special small wheels. the hx wheels are identical, but bigger, and not all that pricey. i don't get it... is your time not worth anything?
Well yes, but i just Love the way they look. when you like the look of something so much you'll do work to make it fit. same goes for engine swaps.. ppl want faster civics. they drop 2-4 g for a motor that wasnt even designed for that car... no one says how safe or unsafe that is. but they do it cuz it fits. well.. ill change hubs to make my favorite wheels fit... change hubs cuz they fit! It seems when i ask how to do something which in reality isnt so bad.. everyone acts like theyre a safety rep for the ministry of transportation... why dont we just all leave our hondas the way they came.. sick of the haters on here
lol were not hating at all were giving you serious advice. its stupid to downgrade ur brakes from stock, thats much different than swapping motors to add performance, you are downgrading one of the things that can seriously keep you alive, and like nsxtaxy said if you get into an accident or sell your car without telling them about the downgraded brakes you could be seriously screwed.
but if you really want to do it go for it, just remember to brake early
