hitting the 100mph mark
ok, i have a stock 1998 civic lx. when i first got this car i was planning a full gsr swap and going full n/a. now that i have to start paying out bills and **** like that i have relaized that thats not possable. i have hit about 95 in the car but i cant seem to hit the 100 mark. any suggestions?
what size is your mattress?
you may wonder why i ask, but have you ever seen waterworld?
take the sheets from your bed and find some light wood, with these two you will fashion a sail.
now, watch the news, be on the look out for drastic changes in temperature, when the day is perfect we will take your car to the salt flats, affix the sail to it, and we will hit 100mph.
godspeed sir, godspeed.

i have a 2000 civic ex D16 Y8 with vtec pretty much stock sort of SRI and HKS exhust and i can only hit 120 due to the fact that my car has a govener on it i can hit it in 4th gear and the it shuts off befor i can even get it in to 5th so im not to sure how your delso is hitting 130 unless you took the govener off
you do realize that honda has a device on there that if you keep going at the governor speed too many times that it will blow up then you have to go back to the dealer to get a new one and of course they'll know what you were doing at the time it failed.

Ive never heard of the car "blowing up" by hitting the govener too many times. Now i have heard of GM doing that with some of their vehicles and you have to have GM reset it, but not with a Honda.

Yeah Honda never did this. I don't know where you got that information from, but its a bad source. Honda's speed limiter is just a fuel cut. Thats why when you hit it, it feels like you're slamming on the brakes.
Your LX, providing it is a 5 speed should hit speed limiter at 127 MPH. Thats where the factory set the fuel cut at on all D16Y7 motors (5 spd versions).
Why you would need to go this fast is beyond me. If its a stock car, you may hit 90 MPH in the 1/4 mile, but that is highly unlikely. Road courses, not straight aways on highways or back roads, don't have a long enough straight away for you to get up to that speed. There is really no point in doing so.

I hope you aren't talking about a highway straight as a "controlled road course". The only controlled road course that you should be doing that speed at is a drag strip or a racetrack. They don't have paramedics on hand on the highway when you F up and crash. Only truly controlled race courses have them.

I got stuck on ice on my driveway, had my speedometer come all the way around and point straight down.. Stock d16y8, didn't know our cars had governers, figured they didnt have enough power to get dangerously fast anyways....

Sorry but the interweb doesn't have a way to show sarcasm. Since its a tech thread, why don't you just provide helpful information like I did, instead of adding to the stupidity that the original question had.

For one I'm glad I don't live near Roanoke where there is someone trying to drive 100mph down the roads
secondly I could honestly care less about what he does to himself that is his business but he could seriously injure someone else or even do worse.
now on to help provide information...
I've had my hx up to 107mph before (back in my younger and dumber days), the speed limiter is in the computer, the y7 has it set to 95mph so do either do a mini-me to use the ecu for a vtec motor or you can just do a complete swap all together.
now do us all a favor and go crawl in a hole somewhere
