17" rims on an 05 EX
I'm not a big ricer but I want to upgrade my steelies (and please don't ask because I HAVE NO IDEA why my EX came used with steelies) to a set of aluminum alloys. I have a friend who is basically giving me a set of 17s in decent/good condition- minor scratches- with tires 85% usable tread life left for 100 bucks.
My question is what will the ride be like opposed to my 14" steelies- will the ride be real rough? unbearable? with the low profile tires?

yeah it's all stock- I'm just sick of the steelies- but if it's going to be rough I'll just buy some smaller alloys I was thinking 15s. This is just a killer deal imo.

thanx toyomatt If his ride still has stock suspension then I'll be ok with the look- it's a little high but nothing outrageous.
one thing at a time and I really really want those steelies gone... this seems like a good way to go.

i'm on 17's
205/40/r17 tires like the other guys mentioned you should really lower ur car, the profile would look much better
and if you don't want to spend lots of bux just get some tein lowering springs they ride great
and it's about 1.25-1.50 inch drop not too crazy or anythin

Run the right height tires for the wheel. 15 inch wheels should run 55 series. 16 inch wheels should run 50 series. 17 inch wheels should run 45 series. 18 inch wheel should run 40 series. That is to keep your speedometer reading right. 17 inch wheel will be fine lowered if your running a 45 series. If you run less it will be more bumpy and there will be more of a chance to bend a rim.

Depends on your car's warranty stipulations. You'll want to take that up with the dealership you got your car from.

Here is what my 17's look like on my 02 civic with stock suspension. The ride is really not that bad, but as with any low profile tire... AVOID POT HOLES!! lol They are not a smooth ride but just avoid big ones and you'll be fine. I do a lot of interstate driving and they are more smooth then my stock rims were.
