ls vtec cross over point loudness
I recently rode in a buddies ls vtec hatch it was quick but i didnt really hear the vtec kick it kept pulling harder as the revs climbed as it should but the cross over wasnt really noticeable. so for those of you who have ls vtec is this the norm ?
on ls vtec , it should be pretty audible when vtec kicks in. cause u know how they should sound, i saw u have/had a few dual cam vtec hondas in your sign
mine isnt super loud... you can tell when it switches, but it's nothing like some cross-overs ive heard. i think there are alot of variables involved in how loud it is
Yeah he told me that its not a loud cross over because he has the stock cat and resonator in the exhaust. i miss that about my crx when it hit vtec everyone around knew it
Maybe where it crosses over in the rev range might have something to do with it. I took a ride in a friends B16 hatch and his crossover was at 6500 r's and it wasn't as pronounced as mine(stock 99 Si) which kicks in at 5500.

just because vtec isnt loud doesnt mean its not working. only reason why your vtec is loud id because you havea bunch of bolt ons and at vtec it leans out like crazy and sounds louder. if you put your car n a dyno you will see for yourself. your buddies car is probably tuned so his vtec crossover is smooth and doesnt pop like how yours does. i had a 1.8 LS vtec making 217 to the wheel and vtec was quiet but pulled like a ****.

He did say they messed with the crossover point and the higher up they went, the less "audible" the crossover became.

Yeah his was set at almost 6k rpms he said that he needs to lower the crossover and raise the redline apparently it cuts out around 7.5k rpms but its still a quick hatch he raced his brother in his G35 and beat him
