How Come No Hybrid CR-V??
The CR-V is an excellent car. Does anyone know why Honda is not interested in offering this as a Hybrid? I see countless CR-V owners on the net complaining about this... Weird! And frustrating since I'd buy one in a heartbeat.
It's a nice SUV, but the problems lie in the transmission (if it has 4wd). You would be stuck trying to adapt an automatic transmission to your built engine unless you had a way to import a manual 4wd transmission from the Middle East.
Well, a hybrid CR-V would likely be similar to the Ford Escape Hybrid - FWD only, using a CVT. Honda would basically have to scale up their hybrid Civic engine to make enough power.
I'd imagine the primary obstacle is not enough marketablility - the CR-V gets better mileage than most equally sized vehicles already.
