can i wet sand and buff a single stage Metallic paint job?
dont do it, the metallic will now be a "smooth" flow after you sand it.
i wouldn't even spray a metallic for SS unless you are really cheap or if the painter is really good

No, i perfer not shooting single stage at all.
in fact i don't in my line of work, if you must shoot SS and you are not very very good, try use a solid color

The bad thing that happens is that you might cut into each pass that the spray gun and painter made and end up with edges of layers showing and looking ugly. Just like when you sand through base and clear and see the feather edge.
if your gunna single stage then im gunna say go with a 20 dollar paint job. they come out better sometimes but you will never meet the quality of 3 stage. you get what you pay for.
