Default Re: Boost? (924doorEG)

i've heard about people pushing quite a few psi through stock sohc's. If you have someone near you that can dyno tune the car, you can probably squeeze 9 reliable lbs out of it. I would at the very least do a cometic head gasket and new arp head studs. maybe even rod bolts just in case. if you're going to spend the money to boost your car, why not just buy a motor swap instead? more reliability and you'll most likely end up with similar performance (as far as 1/4 mile times are concerned). In the end it's really up to you, i do know that built SOHC's can boost a **** ton. my buddy used to have a darton y8 block fully built with forged internals running like 25 lbs (reliably) on the street. He had a turbo cam and p/p head with your standard valvetrain upgrades and smoked 12's evos all day long. i say either A build the sohc and then boost it, or swap it for a b-series motor to hold you over and then possibly boost it later down the road.
