Rough analysis on which is the best motor oil
We all know where this data came from but I was bored so I played with them in Excel and ranked them accordingly from what the author states which is better.
These are by far, very rough since the rankings overall are not weighted average and more likely, a combination of each specifications maybe be better or worst.
From the rankings, it looks like Amsoil tops most categories, followed by Mobil 1, Redline, then Quaker State.

The higher the flash point the better
The lower the pour point the better
Low ash content also seems to promote long valve life
A level of .11% is enough. Lower number is preffered,

There is a huge 11+ page long discussion on oil in the TypeR forum for anyone who wants to know more. Lots of good information in it, but you have to sift through some of the fluff :\
I just changed my oil with Mobile 1 5w30 New SuperSyn and you it's not like I can tell a difference from the previous oil I had in which was regular Mobile 1 5w30 non synthetic. But from now on this is the oil I'll be using since I can go to Wal-Mart and pick up 5 quarts of it for $18.00. BTW Sport Compact Car had an article about this oil in their August issue.
The best oil, is the one that is frequently changed with a high single pass filtration filter, as per the manufactures requirements...

I like to go to wal-mart and pick up 5 quarts too, but for only $4.17 - SuperTech all the way! I change my oil and filter so often it isn't possibile to justify spending so much on oil.

i've been wondering too, my teg has had mobil synthetic since new, but i've heard bad things about the new supersync. I dont know if to continue using it or change to another brand. also about this walmart deal, i'm kinda pissed cause i went to walmart last night to stock up since according to everyone its $3.50 a quart, but its $4.50 just like at the auto store. they did have another synthetic oil from mobil that was 350 but not the supersync, it was a reguar synthetic. anyone know about it?
