Re: Best Motor Oil ? (Sir-Boost-Alot)
anybody run 5w40 synthetic that is used in german cars now?
also as i understood it that the wider range of viscosity the more polymers there is in the oil and those polymers are the same ones that cause sludge and deterioration in high heat of turbo engines?
does that theory apply to synthetics?

Amsoil synthetic performed much better in heat and pressure testing than other synthetics. The $9.95 AMsoil 2000 is their racing oil. Other Amsoils are around $6 - 7.

Wow, you mean Amsoil's own testing revealed that their oil is the best? Sorry to be a smartass, but I couldn't resist. There are plenty of good oils out there, and you can't make a statement that one brand of oil is the best. Do some research on bobistheoilguy.com to help you with your decision.

Good link.
As for Amsoil, something else they have stated is that they have never been sued for their claims. Mobil sued Castrol when they started selling their SynTec Full Synthetic which was nothing more then a refined oil made from Group III base oil. So imo, if Amsoil was really overstating their claims, then at least one of the big oil companies with their million dollar lawyers would have sued them by now.

I run Castrol Syntec European Formula (Made in Germany) 0w30. In reality, it's reallyheavy for a 30 weight oil. That with NAPA Gold (WIX) oil filter has kept my original motor running smooth.

I have had great results with Castrol GTX (more frequent changes) and Amsoil. Trying Red Line in Xsi-T's car

Amsoil testing was from results found in independent lab testing, not results that they paid for. The results showed that the Amsoil product was dramatically better, not just marginally better.
Good to question promotional claims though. Sorry I didn't elaborate earlier.
