They are different, but they are interchangeable. You can bolt the Japanese seats into the USDM and UK/EU cars without any problems, and the other way 'round.
As originally designed, the Recaro seat proposed for the DC2 ITR was high-backed and had relatively narrow seats and close bolsters.
The Honda seats designed for the rest of the world have lower backs/squabs to provide for a greater height diversity among UK/EU and USA drivers, and seats that will allow for the slightly greater girth of our drivers. :-)

so true...but, you ever sit in usdm sti seats? talk about one of the worst "sport" seats ever made...those were made for like 500 lbs gorillas...

So true, even the USDM Recaros that came in EVO is made for flat huge asses.
When I go to Japan and sit in my friend's EVO 7 or 9, I could not even fit my wallet in back pockets or thick jacket because is so tight.

Thanks. I thought I'd seen a UK car with our seats, but now that I have looked again I guess maybe these are the high bolsters of the Recaros.

I don't like the JDM recaro's because they make you sit higher than the USDM seats.
But they sure do look nice though.
