Default Engine Flushing?

has any one ever heard of using Automatic Transmission fluid for flushing out their engine. a friend of mine from my automotive class said something to me one day about doing it and i wasn't sure if any one else has ever tried it???

he said to add a half quart - to one quart of ATF to your engine oil and run it for 5 to 10 minutes then do an oil change.

Any inputs would be nice, Thanks.... Isaac-

I work at an oil change shop and we have some Engine flush that we sell and it works great! Its a 4 quart jug. I would recommend doing an engine flush this way... much safer. just get the cleaner, 2 oil filters and your oil... drain out your old oil, change your filter n add the cleaner... let it run for about 5-10 minutes... then drain out the cleaner (run some clean oil through if the oil was real black) then put on your second filter and throw in your oil... crystal clear oil every time!

Yeah I used to be a mechanic at the Honda dealership here and we were also an Isuzu dealer.... the 3.5 V6's had a lot of problems with the lifters getting tappy and sticking. That was standard procedure for us when that happened(The recall procedure entailed doing this) We would add 1/2 quart of ATF to the oil and let the engine idle for 30 minutes, then change the oil. ATF is EXTREMELY high-detergent. That's why it's still clean when it comes out of an AT after like 100k miles.

it still has 40-60xxx if not more. They cant 100% be 40,xxx-60,xxx miles without proof. But ither or the engine runs. Just clean it out. I mean the worst it could happen is cleaner internals or better preformance. Good luck with that.

Oh yeah I would just use engine flush, that stuff works great!
