Default My D16

I Currently have a d16z6 in my hatch...would it be better to put the d15b7 jap spec head on? will it run better with it or will i just be better off with the d15b7 block with the z6 head? or just better off staying d16z6 head and block? help me out please!!

since u already have a single cam vtec engine. u dont really need to waste money and time to do head or block swap. not worth it.

leave it how it is, you will see no gain from a d15. waste of money and a step down. your engine has good potential, its a good motor to build/boost. do some searching.

No need. Z6 head is fine.
Just add boost.

A buddy of mine has the d15B7 motor and wants to drop in a Z6 head on it, but hes going to change his internals as well.. Would that run better than just dropping in a D16?

No. D15 internals are Junk, and there is little/no aftermarket for them.

Built Rods for a D15 are like $450 alone, you can get Vitara pistons and LS rods for a D16 for like $200.

ONLY gain for using a D15B7 bottom end is higher compression, but you are loosing displacement which is NOT worth it. if he is gonna spend the money on new internals anyways he might as well just get a FULL z6 and get high comp pistons if he wants NA

I frankely beg to differ about my OBD2 JDM D15b
USDM ones are the economy motors.

D15B's have decent internals, but have you shopped around for built rods lately?

there is very little after market support for them (Thats the point I was making :-p)

I did a MiniMe on my D15B8 block with a D16Y8 head and when it came down to it, the car was still gutless and had no torque, so I dropped a B18B into it instead.

USDM d15 rods for $450? Assuming that's for a new set, that's pretty cheap...
