Problem with Harness bar in My R???
Well,
I purchased a sparco harness bar and I have been trying to install it in the R but it just seems as if it is too long to fit in the car.
I have been playing with it fot the last 45 min and I cannot figure it out.
I bought it from a guy that says it is compatable with the eg/dc.
Is there a trick to get it in or did I possibly just get the wrong bar?
I have been looking at some pics of the bar installed in a dc chassie and it looks like there is an extra adapter plate to hold it in on some but not on some of them. I am baffled at what to do.
Please help me out. If you have some clear shots from the back or side of a dc showing the bar installed I am sure it would help me greatly.
Thank you in advance.

where would you guys recommend getting a harness bar from?
speaking of harness bars, are these really the only way to install harness's in your car without a roll cage?
I have seen many cars with the belts attached to the rear seatbelt points. is this a bad idea IE broken neck/back

I wouldn't install harnesses with a rollbar or cage. If you choose to get a harness bar, IO Port sells them and they are adjustable. I am using one as a camera bar.

A harness bar is not the only way to go. Attaching to the rear seatbelt mounting points is another way to go.

It's what a lot of autoxers, myself included, do. You just need to know what you're getting into. The major concern is that in a rollover, without a cage, the roof may crush down, and the harness will hold you in place and risk a neck injury. So a rollcage is the right way to do it. I would not drive on a road course or on the street with a harness and no rollcage. But in an autox, where the risk of rollover is small, but the advantage of being held in place is large, I find the risk acceptable.
YMMV.

I read something a few years back about how you're not supposed to mount your harness below your shoulders because it can cause damage to your back or something when your body is thrown forward while mounted in it

lol, I am sure you will not have the problem like I do but I guess I just have problems with everything I have been modding on my car so far.

if it mounted to the rear belts, in an accident the harness will pull down crushing your back.
There are multiple threads about the potential problems that can happen without a cage. It's all about what you can live with (risk) and what the rules allow in your class.
