Default RSX center console install!!! UPDATE!

So today I received the center console i ordered from ebay. Pretty much excellent condition. I paid 50 bucks for it too lol Anyhow, I had high ambitions for this project because first, its a really nice center console...and has that funky texture on the side. Id just like to say that it was a PITA to get it into place because of the DAMN Ebrake. If the ebrake was able to stand straight up at 90 degrees it would have made things 5x easier.

Right now ive hit a small dilemma, which I have outlined in one of the pics. On to the pics!

Looky looky!

Gave it some TLC...

After getting the damn ebrake over in...gosh that was a pita.

So here Ive highlighted the parts that get in the way for sliding the console in all the way...it seems that those plastic guides will have to get cut off, and maybe ill have to trim down the edges there for a perfect fit...will see.

Side view

Top view!

Not exactly a victory pizza...lol

if you get it flush mounted let us know what you had to do. i see you have either a 01-02 civic. has anyone done this in a 03-05? can you post pics cuz i think its a easier fit with our years.

Its actually an 04 Ill eventually get it mounted perfectly..but you will have to remove those things that i circled in the picture. They are actually sliders for the tray+cover that slides over the cup holders! Ill take a pic of that tommorow!

If you had the Ex we have the arc, which you are going to cut on the rsx center console. Why not go out and see if your junk yard has the lower console piece (right below the cig lighter) and put it on because my 04 Ex does not have a pocket underneath the cig lighter just a cup holder, I think for the Ex it will bolt right up.

So I have it installed, the best I could. I need to trim the edges down. I had to dissasemble the whole console, which made things SO MUCH EASIER! Theres a peice that goes around the cup holders, that I had to take off so that I could get the console in properly, that was the problem I was having.

Here you can see, I took off the shift boot and tray thats under the ebrake, turned out to be one peice. I discovered it by accident lol

My view

And the shifter now looks as if its shorter! But its the console thats a bit higher. Looks pretty cool

Im gonna go buy some black duck tape and see if i can tape off anything thats exposed. I could always buy the panels that come off the console and cut them and glue them on, kind of a custom fitment and make it flush, maybe in time, but now time to go enjoy it a little.

Yes, i just finished covering everything with electric tape. Looks quite clean..I take a picture later.

Its funny how you do one good thing and all of a sudden, its counter balanced by something bad. As i was backing from my driveway...theres a small drop off because of snow...but the snow was so soft that my car kinda sunk into it and ripped the front of the bumper off now my front end is all loose and ****. im so mad!

I want to do this, if only it was easier to get it sitting flush. I think I'm going to get an 02 center console though.

gotta fix it. the part where the cup holder is looks ghetto. imho and the sides from what i saw don't flush right. another thing that looks weird is the trim line on the console is different from anything in your interior.

love the idea, work it more to make it work!

what's the point of converting to the rsx console? it doesn't look any better than the civic one...

why not convert it to the civic console w/ the covered cupholders? i had one for sale too..lol..it even came w/ the trim pieces to mate up with the dash board...
