Door "sash garnish" removal
The car... 89 CRX Si... The problem...removal of the trim piece on the rear edge of the door... by the window. Seriously, I'm preping the car for paint and tha outer weatherstrip seems to go behind this piece. How can it be removed without breaking the clips that I assume are nolding it on? yes I did search.
That is the piece but there are no screws, must be held on with clips and I would like to know how to remove them without breaking them. Highly unlikely they won't break, they are 19 years old!
I have never got them off without breaking tabs. Always bought new ones at http://www.hondaautomotivepart...ECTOR items 8 and 11.
yeah, only the 88's had screws on the backside... Thick pillar doors (89-91 dx/si) that piece breaks upon removal no matter what, no matter what. Kamikazi part, only good once.

so with new clips is the "sash garnish" held on tightly?
What direction do you pull to get them off, up, down, back, forward?
The reason i'm asking Is because I think the body shop that worked on my car snapped some of the clips or rigged them up, because they a loose and rattle a bit.
thanks

I pulled them out from the car and the clips didn't break it was the pieces that go into the clips that broke (back side of the garnish). The body shop may have put them back on with RTV sealant.
sorry I have one more question. So was it #32(clip) or #33(grommet)? also it says 6 are required. But its hard to tell if that is for one side or both sides

Some day a 3D printer will be the solution for a problem like this. I pulled about a dozen of these off cars in junk yards just to gather 6 unbroken clips. I do remember getting better at not breaking them but for the life of me I can't remember what it was that I did, sorry.
