Default Is it possible to strip wheels with tires on them???

Sorry, no pics for this thread.

I was just wondering if there was any safe way to strip my rims with tires. Aircraft stripper has a warning to not use on rubber. I don't trust any "lesser" strippers that are safe on plastic or rubber. But does anyone know one? What about media blasting? Could a simple sand blaster hurt a tire?

I know this seems really simple so i hope someone can help. I can unmount if i have to, i really only have time to do one at a time anyway. The rims had an awful paint job when i bought them, i've made the best of it, but they need to go back down to metal. My tires are new so they are the biggest concern (obviously). I know like half of you have refinshed rims lol, just want some advice.

i've stripped 2 sets of wheels with aircraft remover, and i've never run into any problems at all.

I've stripped a few sets of wheels with aircraft remover. I applied it using a brush. Tires weren't hurt in the process.

Ok, cool. Also, anyone who has had a problem with stripping wheels with tires on, let us know as well (if that happens). I'm just parinoid since the tires have like 3k miles on them and it will double the price if i dismount, plus take longer as i have to do them at the same time.

ive let the aircraft stripper hit the tires a couple times... it looks like it bubbles on there... but when you wash it off they dont look any different. only problems you might have is gettin the small specs of paint/clean in the crack where the tire hits the rim... but a wire brush will suffice.
