Default eg fog wiring

ok before you all say search i did that and couldnt find any helpful info on what i want to do

i bought the oem fogs directly from honda and they are all wired up. im kinda dissapointed how they can only be on when the headlights are on and how they turn off when you engage the brights. does nyone now how to modify the harness so they can be turned on w/o the headlights and stay on when the brights are on? i assume it has something to do with the connecter that hooks up to the headlights, but i dont wanna start hacking up the harness bc im a total newb at wiring

thx

I know the OEM JDM harness doesn't connect to the headlight switch. Does the OEM USDM one connect to the headlight switch?

Take the connector off from slot #4 and put it in slot #3. See if that works.

ya theres a plug that you remove from the headlight switch, connect that to the harness, then theres another harness plug that connects into the headlight switch...there was no wiring that required tapping into the fuse box either

There should be two wires that go to slot #1 and slot #4. The connectors are brown.

no, however one wire has a fuse on it that just clips next to the fuse box, but no wires are hooked directly up the the fuse box

when do you want them to come on ?

if you want them to come on when the car is runing the easest way is to pull the fog light swich out and cut the red/white wire and run a new wire from the swich side red/white wire to a swiched power fuse in the fuse box like the radio

then they will come on when the car is started

in the picture above, you have something plugged into the green square area, this is the relay-switched power. It sounds like you have this power coming from the headlight circuit, so you will only get power to the fogs when low beams are on (as you described it) when i hooked mine up into the green square i hooked it up to the running lights power, which sounds like what you want to do. simply move the connector to a power source that is on the running light circuit, it should be one of those optional blocks.

sorry if its confusing but thats basically it.

Odd, even my aftermarket Depos had a connector that went into the under-dash fuse block as pictured above. Any chance it's not for your model year?

The OEM USDM harness piggybacks off the headlight switch. it allows the fogs to be turned on when the parking/headlights are on, and to go off when the brights are on. The fogs are only powered on the low side of the headlight switch. i believe this prevents an overload of the circuit.
