Help with front rotor change!
Hey,
I'm trying to change the front rotors on our 94 Accord LX. I've rented a slide hammer, and I'm trying to get the hub off, but it doesn't want to budge.
It looks like it'd just be easier to take the entire steering knuckle off and bring it somewhere to get the hub pressed out. What do you think? I've never dealt with a setup like this before. The Haynes manual seems to imply that the hub just pulls off easily.
Thanks!
Rob

Thanks...
But that doesn't seem to be working for me
It doesn't seem to be budging at all! Maybe I just don't understand the extent of how frozen it can be. But I would still like to know if I brought the steering knuckle in, if the hub can be pressed out.
Thanks,
Rob

yeah right now I have a spare set of knuckles/spindles at my buddys shop with new rotors, lower ball joints, wheel studs, and wheel bearings. I hope he can get them done soon, its free.

You just have to keep trying with the slide hammer. Yes, it's a major pain in the ***... took us about an hour to get both sides separated from the knuckle. Try using a pry bar against the knuckle...

remember that the hub is fitted tightly into the knuckle, as you try to hit it it will move one area and wedge in at another, once you have it off put some never cease around the race so it will slide it out easily the next time
Morgan- who can change front rotors in about 45 minutes

Man, I just did this with 97 Accord! I'm here to tell ya 30min to tear the whole steering knuckle off, and 15min for Tuffies shop to press the hubs off, put new bearings in, and press the new EBC's back on. Best $50 I ever spent.
I learned this after I tried to take one off and destroyed the bearing.
Good Luck
