This is the part of the smog i failed i smogged my car yesterday 3/5/08 i did a complete tune up on my car about 2 months ago i changed everything the pcv valve spark plugs wires fuel filter oil change and by the way we installed a new motor on my car about 6 months ago.The smog test before this one my car tested as a gross polluter it measured over 2,000 on this part of the test so before i took this test i put some denatured alcohol on 1/4 of a tank of gas someone on here told me it worked and i can see it did work but just not quite enough and my hatch runs really smooth does anyone have any advice to what can help me pass my smog id really appreciate it and if not i guess ill have to sell my hatch by the way the tech told me the timing was off too does that have a big impact on the results let me know thanks GOOD DEEDS ONE.

 

First of all, what exact motor and ECU are you running. What mods are done to it, if any.

 

what about the catalytic converter? and yea timing does affect it, if timing is off you should automatically fail, should get that fixed.

 

its A 93 Civic VX with a stock motor and the original ECU my car doesnt have too many mods that i know of but when i bought it was missing the A/C and i got a cheap CAT on it cuz i didnt have the money for the original CAT do u think changing the oxygen sensor might help?

 

a VX failing emisions? Thats irony.
May be a defective Cat, you should always go OEM with one for inspection, ESPECIALLY in the state of Cali.

 

ha the vx is the one with the 5 wire o2 sensor i believe right? have the cat checked.

 

Since im a little low on ENDS right now u think if i swap my cousins 92 civic EX cat on my car it would work his car passes smog?

Thanks 97 for the advice ya Cali is starting to suck theyre adding more test now the also check for fuel leaks plus theyre aint too many crooked smog shops anymore Good loooking.

 

Cool ya ill try it if it fails again ill let you know but arent u near san diego? dude i love my hatch my wife says even more than her but i work a grip and hardly have time to do anything to it but if ur interested ill send u some pics the body has no damage the motor is new so is the tranny i changed the axles myself but the interior kinda sucks and if ud want it just make me an offer ok ONE.
