There's really not much else you can do when you rip your paint up so bad that it gets into the metal. Only thing to do is take it in and have it re-painted.

So now you know to be a little more careful next time.

Aren't you the same guy that just got his car back, after it was in the shop (with $10k worth of damage) for a month, after you slammed into a pickup truck that was just sitting in the street?

I'm sorry, but you should have your license taken away.

If the bumper is damaged physically easiest just to get a new one.

If it's solely cosmetic then you'll need to take it in to get resprayed.

As to your sister's car for being stupid - I wouldn't say that if you were the one that backed into a parked car.

Or a wall - I have a feeling that one didn't sneak up on you.

i had my lisence for like a week. i should get my lisence taken away for backing up into my sisters car bc she parked outside my garage and i backed out not knowing bc she never parks there? my car was in nuetral and i just rolled back like i would do naturally, i didnt look behind me yet.
the whole wall scenerio was because my boyfriend left my camera on the ground in a parking garage and i was making sure i didnt hit that and ended up hitting a wall. whatever i was a new driver. and hitting a truck, it was black ice. Not my fault even the officer said it wasnt my fault.

I suggest you just replace the bumper. A new OEM bumper will run you about $300.00, as long as all your hardware is still good. You would also need it painted, but if you buy the paint and take the bumper to a auto paint place, I can't imagine it costing more than $100.00 since there would be little to no prep work. I had a refrigerator painted with auto paint at a shop locally and they only changed me $65.00. However, the same place quoted me $1,100.00 to repaint my rear bumper after a little brush with a concrete piller. It was a total rip-off since I was able to rub most of the scratches out myself. The bumper is something you can install it yourself.

Not sure who much a body shop would charge to do the entire repair, but if they are anything like the shop's around where I live, it will cost you over a grand.

Good luck

I thought our bumpers are made out of plastic. If the plastic didn't get damaged such as cracked and stuff, you can just take it in for repainting. If touch up paint can pretty much cover it up and no one can notice unless looking at it for the scratches, then I suggest just leave it the way it is.

Whether you have your license for a day or a decade, the fact that you were issued a license at all, means that you should be able to avoid all of those situations. Granted, accidents happen, but it seems the accident was giving you a license in the first place.

Well just be happy that you have a car that is still driveable. Most people would kill just to not have to walk everywhere or take the bus all the time.

if it's pretty big and you can't afford to go to bodyshop then do this

go to your local paint specialist, and they should have a service where they'll put your paint into a spray can. Get a can of that, and a can of clear. Sand the whole area where the paint is chipping, and tape off everything except that area. Basically spray paint it yourself. I have spots on my hood and fender where it got scratched to the metal and I didn't want the bodyshop to repaint the whole thing and quote me hundreds of bucks, so I did it that way myself. Nobody can see it unless I point it out to them

i clearly didnt literally mean my sister was stupid for parking there. I didnt look back i rolled about 1 foot in neutral and her car was parked real close to the garage. the end, i didnt ask for your opinion on that, i asked for advice on what to do about the paint, if you have no advice- dont answer

Well for one, in your first post you said "...I have touch up paint on it for now just to at least keep it black rather than a scratched up metal color...", but the title of your thread also says the scratches are on your bumper. If the scratches are only on your bumper, then there wouldn't be any "metal color" showing through. It is made of plastic. If you were lucky, and only scratched the bumper, then you could either bondo/repaint it, get a new bumper/repaint it, or have a shop do either. If you scratched your truck lid or the quarters, it is a lot more expensive.

Do you have any pictures?

ok here's some advice...learn how to properly drive before you do any body work to your car...no sense in doing it over and over again...
