Safe is 6-7 psi small turbo
Sleaves are to weak, h22's are notorious for spinning bearings to.

I have hear of them getting 17 psi but on a damn good tune and never ever see's boost. I would strongly suggest saving up and gettign it sleeved or go to for sale forum and getting golden eagles $950 special

the h22 sleeves are actually very strong, the ring lands on the pistons usually give out first. Mahle gold series pistons have been know to work really well with the stock sleeves, they've seen up to 20psi safely with a good tune. I ran 10psi on my stock h22 with no problem, daily driven in fact. if you have a really good tune with no knock you should be ok to run up to 10psi maybe even 12psi. if your going all out, get it sleeved, if your on a budge, try the mahle pistons, alot cheaper than sleeving.

bearings are not the problem, pistons are the problem.
