shift linakge pin removal
well am close to getting my swap done, bought hasport linkage for swap, trying to take off old linkage. the problem am having is that the pin wont come out from the linkage to remove it from the tranny. Looked to be as if there was lock-tite, but I heated it and tried to push the pin out, nothing happened. What else can I do for this problem???
thanks,
jer

go to a junkyard and get a long *** 12mm AC compressor bolt from a 88-00 civic of your choice. The AC compressor bolt is the perfect size for the bitch pin bore. It's also long enough that you can beat the crap out of the bolt with a hammer without hurting your hand too much if you miss. It also has a taper on the end of it..making it fit nice and snugly onto the bitch pin. I say go to the junkyard, because you will destroy the 12mm bolt.
You will have to knock the **** out of it.
I've also rigged up some crazy ghetto press with a C clamp, a short tapered 12mm bolt, and a socket on the other side. It worked great. Try that first.

or you could do that other insanity mentioned..</TD></TR></TABLE>
Insanity?!! More like Ingenuity!
Punches are expensive. Especially the ones I give to your face.
The C clamp press thing really works great. No violence needed. Usually, I'm all for violence, but you dont have much room to swing a hammer when you're underneath the car. Plus, when you smash your hand, it's no longer fun and games. It's serious bidness. Serious bidness is no fun.

i have my own tool! i had an old screw driver sitting around that was so old that it was actually made of the hard *** steel and had the old see through handle. i just grinded the tip flat and have been using it for years..
I do these all the time at my work, what I have is a 6 inch 1/4 extension from sears. I hold the bottom with a pair of vice grips and knock it out in about 4-5 hits. I have the proper size punch but I like the extension better.
Ive always done it with the a/c compressor bolt, but after removing the a/c i didnt have the damn bolt anymore so I used a little screw driver that can hold a 1/4 socket and bashed that **** 3-4 times and pop went out. Putting it in hurts more when you miss.....
